First post, need some help, buying an SS!

Hi guys, My name is Raymond I use to own a 94 z28 but it was totalled in a accident a few years ago. I'm in the market now to purchse a 98-00 SS around Feb 07. I'm looking for info on MODs for an LS1, I know more about the LT1 (since I owned one) I asked around and everyone told me this was the place to have my questions answered. So, like I said before, I'm in the market for a 98-00 SS. I have 20 grand to spend, thats car included. I have found some Camaro SS with decent miles on them for around 13-15 g's. So what I'm looking for is the best mods and what can I really do to get some power out of the LS1 with around 5-7 G's to spend. I'm talking headers, cam and what ever else you guys can think up. I wanna start ordering the parts and have them all ready to go.

Also, what do you guys think it would cost to bore the LS1 out to a 383 or 400ci and what kinda power are we talking about?

My father-law owns a 2006 SRT-8 Magnum with a few mods and I wanna beat him for once, lol.

Thanks guys for all the help, here to many future posts and my new home here at camaroz28.com

You could do a heads/cam setup or supercharger though.
Any info on what heads and cam to go with?

And drive ur car for a while before you start heavly modding it. Get used to it, then feel the peformance you just cooked up. Good luck with the car search, also try an look in the buy an sell section, theres good deals in there.

only 01-02 had the LS6 intakes

As for what you should get...it depends on how comfortable you are modding the car yourself. A nice h/c package can be had for relatively cheap if you do the work yourself. Get a copy of EFI Live or HPTuners and learn to tune yourself as well. Then, you could have a 420+rwhp car for under $4K. Then, you'd have enough to put towards a new clutch, a 9-inch and some slicks.

ssra
lid
ls6 intake
TSP torquer cam or Futral F13 or F14 cam
ported heads (smaller runner for better low end)
long tube headers
true duals

should total about $3000 in parts...give or take...then just labor and dyno tune.

should be an easy 425-440rwhp on a decent tune

but as stated...read and research. i suggest reading the first 15 or so pages of this forum. most stuff has been asked multiple times.

Yep there are many "what cam" "what head" "what mods to get xxx hp" threads.
And read peoples sigs too. In many you can see what mods get what hp to the wheels.
