A few questions about CAI....
Yeah, you see people all the time who say they "feel" a difference from a tiny mod like a whisper lid or cold air. I hate to break it to you though, but it's all in their heads. A small induction mod like that isn't gonna give your car enough power to feel any difference. On a V6 at least w/ stock exhaust, the lid and cold air makes the exhaust noticeably louder (dunno bout V8), but you can't "feel" any difference when driving.
And like they said, the WS6 was engineered for maximum airflow coming through the nostrils. The airbox was designed for the specific air pattern. Adding the free ram air will only create more turbulence, and interupt the already smooth flow of air coming in.

The CAI works great on all cars. The more air the better. Look on page 68 of the latest issue of GMHTP. This is the Supersucker. Using Autotap, air inlet temp(AIT) was consistently 4-5 degrees cooler than fast toys ram air(FTRA). With the Supersucker I gained 13rwhp on a dynojet. For cars that don't have any ram air inlet these cold air kits work the best ie. the Z28.
The Chevies SS, Z28, V6 get it from the same place. The front of the airbox. It just so happens that the SS' hood feeds right into it. The Pontiac Firehawks and Trans Ams get ram air from their hood just like the WS6. I'm not sure about the V6 Pontiacs
Heres one other thing none of you guys mentioned.
Because there is air coming in the top/front - GM's dumb Ram Air system, and there is air coming in from the bottom...
What happens if alot more air comes in from the bottom, and it flows out the 'ram' system? Or the other way around?
It creates a vacuum, thus ROBBING air OUT of the air box at a higher volume than the engine can suck in. Creating air resistance, making it very hard for your engine to breathe.
Think about it... Under the wrong situations it could be enough to choke your engine.
