Fast intake & 1.7RR's
Re: Fast intake & 1.7RR's
I can't say what a FAST LSx intake will do for your stock LS1, but just so you know, they've already got 1.7 rockers stock
. The 1.8's would bump the lift of your cam without having to tear into the engine, but for the cost, you might as well leave the stock rockers, and change the cam ... much more bang for the buck

Re: Fast intake & 1.7RR's
Yep. 1.7s come from the factory. I wouldn't go with 1.8s because then you'd have increased piston-to-valve clearance problems if you ever installed an aftermarket cam.
You'd be better off with an LS6 intake for $300 and an aftermarket cam from a reputable company like Futral Motorsports. You still need headers and all the other bolt-ons before you dive into something like that, though.

Re: Fast intake & 1.7RR's
he already has LTs...check his sig.
i second the LS6 intake. only reason to do the FAST would be if you are planning a big H/C setup in the near future. and even then...i would do the h/c first

Re: Fast intake & 1.7RR's
Oh, thanks for the info about the Fast intake and teh RRs. So were can i get a Ls6 intake and if i got an aftermarket cam would that require any headwork. Just one more thing what kinda hp and trq could i get from say just the Ls6 intake and then the cam seperatly(+together) .I know theres lots of diffrent cam grinds but lets just say the ones i could use with out head work or at least much of it? Again, thanks for the info guys its very useful.
Re: Fast intake & 1.7RR's
what do you mean "need head work"??
as in required? cause there are only about 100 cams on the market that don't require any head work what so ever. will they produce max numbers...no...but they'll still yield great gains.
you can go mild like the 224 style cam...make about 375rwhp with bolt ons and stock heads
or you could go with something like the magic sticks, TRex or F15 cams and make 420rwhp on stock heads
give us an idea of your goals and we'll tell you some options.
as for the intake...the ls6 intake has been dyno proven time and again to yield about 7-10hp on a bolt on car...upwards of 15hp on a cammed car.

Re: Fast intake & 1.8RR's
Well, im lookin for mid or low 7's in the 1/8th i think thats would be high 11's in the 1/4. As far as goals for driveability i dont care.(I could drive a full blown race car if i had to with no probs
) Now that i think about it id prob go with the wilder cams since id already be spendin the money. Not to mention 400+rwhp sounds good
