Ever so slight stumble off idle...where to start looking?
Ever so slight stumble off idle...where to start looking?
99 Z, 65k miles. I know the cat is going, it is occasionally throwing a code.
Just yesterday it started a very slight stumble when coming off idle. Some probably wouldn't notice it. But I do. Also a slightly erratic idle when coming to a stop at a light or something. Like I said, not real noticeable, but I can feel it...
Is this something that is common? Anyone point me in the direction to look?

The rougher idle were my symptoms when my cat was going bad, but I didn't have any sort of stumble off idle.
Inspecting the plugs would be a good idea. If your car is throwing a code, have it scanned in at auto-zone. This will help diagnose your problem, since the computer also recognizes something is not normal.

I already scanned it for him it's the bank 2 cat. Would the cat being bad cause the car to stumble like he's describing?

Have you heard any popping from exhaust while driving?

nope, nothing from the exhaust at all. The ct problem just started as near as I can tell in the last week. And the stumble in the last 2 days. I wondered if they were related, but it seemed more like a vacuum like or ignition just based on prior experience with other cars. I guess if the cats causing it I'm gonna need those o2 sims Al so I can get the ORP in there
If the cat is restricting the flow enough, I would guess it could cause a stumble off idle. Replacing the O2 sensors with O2 sims isn't going to help the problem at all if the cat is bad.
You will probably need to have a new cat installed. Although, you might get lucky, and it could be just the sensor.
