while we are talking about thermostats, will a 160* run my water pump into the ground (I live in DFW area)? Would a 180* stat be worth it?

the WP runs constantly...why would warmer or cooler coolant have any affect on it?


isn't the LS1 stock stat 180?? i think it is...cause the LT1 was 195 and i know the LS1 is lower due to the aluminum block needing cooler temps.

 

I don't use one. The LS1 is designed to dissipate heat through its aluminum components. Many cars have lost a few ponies by switching to the 160 tstat, and as far as those who gained... it's about as powerful a mod as the throttle body bypass. 185-200 is the LS1's best operating range, which can be programmed without a t-stat, but if you MUST have one, look into the 185.

 

cause the tb bypass doesn't help

if i'm not mistaken...the stock LS1 stat is 180....

 

LOL I didn't say it wasn't a useful mod, it's just not a big power mod, like a lid or catback for example.
