does LS1 have lowend torque
Re: does LS1 have lowend torque
Theroad64: ignorant>>>i created this thread adn Transamabe decided to come on it and call fellow f-body fans retards. so i turned the table around to let him know there are people who look at him and his ls1 and laugh too.
Transamabe: You stated that any one who like the inferior engine is a retard. i simple was making the point that in the context of all engines ls1 is not king so be considerate to those who's engines are not as advanced as yours, remember theres always someone with a better engine laughing at you. and on your last post you stated:
"we're talking about stuff this guy might actually buy. LS1>LT1 you retard"
>>>>>>>>>>duhhhhh, i am the guy trying to figure out what is what with these cars
FS3800: see above
to all above remeber who started this post and remember who truely came, in my perspective, out of no where and change the topic of my thread from "does ls1 have lowend torque" to "people who prefer lt1's to ls1' are retards" you are the ones not keeping this thing clean and making sense.
I bet you guys really are nieve enough to not realize that to everyone else participating a resonable discussion about my thread, you guys coming in and bashing lt1 owner or loyalist like some of mine and others friends was, the off the wall, crazy, come from no where, post.
What am i saying, your too small minded enough to realize your the desturbance on this thread
To whom it may concern>>>>.again mainly the idiots above read the post before you open you mouth and try the hype people up you are the idiots if you go back and read all hte post carefully, you are confusing and mixing things up.
and from now on fs3800 and transamabe when i post a thread please don't respond thanks

Re: does LS1 have lowend torque
yes demeaning. I go up to some one and say f you and they say what and you then go up and say "he said f you" you don't think thats demeaning, now whos ignorant
Man, these sort of threads tend to go downhill fast.
How about a tad of actual technical info, just for a change of pace?
I drive an LT1. I bought it new. I like it. A lot. If I had bought an LS1 new, I'm sure I would like it a lot, as well.
LS1 is faster 0-60, faster in the 1/4 and has higher top speed. The heads are a better design and flow better, stock. Coil packs are a definite improvement over the badly designed Optispark (aka Opticrap or Optifart).
But the biggest difference in SOTP feel is the radically different intake manifold. LT1 has very short runners. Throttle response is more immediate, as a direct result. That makes the car feel punchier at low to mid RPMs, as far as "I move my foot, I get kicked in the butt".
The longer intake runners on the LS1 are more tuneable, flow better overall and are a big part of the difference in top end pull. But the reason that the admittedly slower LT1 (when stock) has a rep for feeling faster and torquier down low and in the middle is the intake design. It's great for immediate SOTP stoplight to stoplight feel, but it fools you into thinking the car is faster than it really is.
Some people would say that's a good thing, and if you're out just toolin' around by yourself, it's a blast. But in equally stock or modified form, the LS1 is just faster in reality, no matter what the seat of your pants says.
Unless, of course, you decide get a well kept LT1 and use the leftover $$$ you saved to mod the crap out of it.

Will_Die_Trying: You need two things here:
1. ability to use the Search function near the top of your page. It's right in between "Quick Links" and "New Posts".
2. a thicker skin, especially if you're going to school to become an automotive technician.
I normally try to be helpful but your insistence on disseminating misinformation led me to "flame" you on this thread. Get over it, realize that I have friends who drive LT1's, I respect them and their cars, and you and everyone else just buy the car you want. And don't ever compare an LS1 to a Kia again.
Abe
Re: does LS1 have lowend torque
So you call people who prefer LT1s retards, and expect them to not be offended. But then you demand that he never compare an LS1 to a Kia again? You felt it necessary to demean PEOPLE; his Kia comment was a light-hearted attempt to get people's opinions on an engine, and he didn't intend to offend anybody like you did. You think you needed to set him straight or whatever, but in the process made a disrespectful comment that applies to many more people. It was an a-hole statement, period.
