because an milled and decked afteramrket mouse 350 is going to kick the snot out of the ls1, in fact i don't recall seeing one ls1 stock or aftermarket in pro stock car racing. even when is an 98+ f-body body they take the ls1 which really has limits when it comes to the champiopnship racing. even the c5 racing corvette doesn't use the ls1. so if shoosing inferior over superior is retarded you r are retarded for not throwwing your ls1 away and getting and aftermarket chevy, in fact aftermarket big block can produce even more power. So don't be nieve and inadvertantly call yourself a tard.

The C5-R's engine is based off of the LS1, just like every V8 GM made after the LS1's debut in '97.
I think you should stop trying to think about all of this, go drive as many Camaros and Firebirds as possible and buy the one you like the best.
Re: does LS1 have lowend torque
wow...this becoming an amazingly pointless arguement...
plain and simple... for the average person who wants to build a street/strip car, the LS1 is a better than the LT1, the ls1 has a little less tq on the low end but will pull a lot harder on the top end. get an ls1...

Re: does LS1 have lowend torque
Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not trying to be in any pointless argument. If he cares about speed, then get the LS1 no doubt. It's got plenty of low and high end power. I just don't like being called a "retard" because I personally prefer the LT1.
Re: does LS1 have lowend torque
Will Die Trying,
I noticed you're from Dallas. There is a dyno day this Sat in Lewisville at RPM. You could go there or to the meet in Ft Worth at Hooters off Hulen. I'm sure there will be guys that'll take you for a ride in an LS1 powered vehicle. If you're further away from both places, get on the TX section of Ls2.com. I'm sure there is a meet in your area. If not and you're ever in the FTW area, I'll take you for a spin. If its before March I may still be stock cammed.

Re: does LS1 have lowend torque
He should wait for you to put the cam in. I rode with a guy recently, had a '99 Z with LTs, GMMG catback, aftermarket cam (not sure which one) and 1.7 RRs. That thing was fast as hell, really fun ride.
Re: does LS1 have lowend torque
Haha!!! Mission accomplished!!! Everyone calling each other retards!!! Awesome!!!
Look, if you like an LS1 buy one. If you prefer an LT1 buy one of those. One thing you might want to consider for your purchase besides motor choice: $$$ & age/mileage. You're going to pay less for an LT1 car, and it's going to be older and have higher mileage.
As for the comments about the mouse motor in racing, blah blah blah. Don't compare a custom race motor to a street car's motor that you can go into CarMax and pick up for $20,000 or less. We're not talking about spending $50,000 for custom engine work in this thread, we're talking about stuff this guy might actually buy. LS1>LT1 you retard.

Go get a Civic.
Re: does LS1 have lowend torque
Don't know if theres any truth to it, but I've heard that the LS1 don't last as long. I do know there are a lot of board members here that have high mileage LT1s that are still going strong. Mine currently has 165k miles, and there are some even over 200k, to me thats amazing for a high performance engine.
BTW at least hes wanting to buy a F-body.

Re: does LS1 have lowend torque
well give us a few more years so we can tell you or not how they will do later on in life.... i dont think that enough time has passed to determine the answer to that...

my post simply clarified TransAmAbe's post, where he said that anyone who prefered an LT1 over an LS1 was a retard for prefering something that wasnt as good over something that is better...
Re: does LS1 have lowend torque
I'll throw my $0.02 in for what it may be worth.
I have owned two of each: 95 LT1 Camaro, 96 LT1 Camaro; 98 LS1 formula, 01 LS1 Trans Am.
In my experience the LT1 has more down low( launch, take off, MAYBE first gear) but the LS1 has so much more EVERYWHERE else it is rediculous. I personally was pro LT1 'till my '96 got totalled, then I wanted an LS1 M6, got one and I would ABSOLUTELY never go back!!
The LT1 is a great motor still (the opti is **** but,) the LS1 is so much better. The thing is, something might be good but technology and time will produce a beter one.
If you are looking for a fast F-Body and money is a major issue, an LT1 would not be a BAD choice. But if you are looking for the BEST F-Body, it is LS1 all the way.
LS1's are FULL of magic,
,
to LS1
thats what I think, take it or leave it
By the way if you are just worried about LOW END TORQUE, buy a deisel

Re: does LS1 have lowend torque
To put it in simple terms that you can understand, and sort of an outlandish comparison, which I KNOW YOU CAN UNDERSTAND...
LT1 = Stink and LS1 = Pink.
Which do you prefer?
