Couple questions about an electric cut out..

I just bought an 01 SLP Firehawk in Sunset orange.. Its an M6, and i think it has SLP exhaust. It sounds okay but not loud enough for my taste. I want to buy an electric cut out. But my question is.. will i have to worry about the cut out motor going out? The reason I like the electic cut outs is when I get tired of it I can just shut it off, but when i want some rumble, i got rumble.. I was just worried that the motor wouldnt last all that long if I used it once or twice a day.. Thanks guys

of the three or four companies that i know of that make e-cutouts it seems that there are a dozen for each that say they have no problems for years and a dozen that say they've replaced the motor multiple times...

i would just buy one new then you're covered by warrentee.

Check the sponsor's page of this site ( https://www.camaroz28.com/misc/adver...se/index.shtml ). I know www.ls1speed.com carries the QT e-cutout for about $150. I got the Quicktime e-cutout that fits right in my Borla exhaust and I love it. No problems over the last two years and it comes in quite handy.

Depends what you consider "reasonable".

You will not find them for less than $130-150 and prices go all the way up to over $200.

There was just a GP in the Paying Advertisers Section for DMH cutouts and I think the price was $150 + shipping.

McCord and QTEC are a bit less expensive, but, like mentioned above, they both their supporters and "haters", so you pretty much just have to take the plunge and choose which ever you deem to be better.

I have the McCord, I have had it on my car for 7 or so months now and I open and close it all the time. It leaked a little but after some Gold RTV it is good to go. just my .02 cents

I have the DMH its the best hands down in quality and fit and finish. The also give you a 4 year warranty if anything should go wrong with it, so you have the piece of mind.

Click on my sig for sound/video clips and my write up.

You should jump in on the GP before its too late.

Thx,
Claude

I ordered a McCord for a couple reasons. First, it is very cheap, only $105. Second, I haven't heard of anyone having problems with the newer design. And third, it has a one year warrantee on the motor and a three year on the body.

Unfortunatly, I ordered it more than four weeks ago and I haven't even gotten it yet. The customer service is poor. Each week I e-mail him asking where it is, he said it will be there in a week. I'm beginning to think he took my money and never send any cutout
