hahaha... I could tell you were getting at something by your other posts.

Many people recomend getting a Z28 and spending the money you save on modding the car. Personally, I like the SS better. T-tops are great, very few people complain about them. For the tranny: get a manual if you can drive a stick and don't have to drive in very much traffic. Otherwise I'd go with a auto.

If you are going to be serious about cometitive motorsports (sub 11's in the 1320, or SCCA/road racing) you should only consider a hardtop... autocrossing my car has brought about all sorts of flex that I dont want.

As far as the tranny... the 6 speed can net you 30+ mpg on the highway, the A4 cant touch that. The 6 speed is a solid tranny, capable of handling the power from bolt ons with no mods, just like the A4.
If you plan to run the 1320 seriously, get the auto, if you plan to road race/autocross seriously get the 6 speed. If you plan to do both, then for the 6 speed expect longish 60' times, high trap speeds (and worrying about your 10 bolt for every time you ook good at the track!) . For the A4, expect more consistent 60' times, and a lower (much of the time) ET, at a much lower MPH.
On the road course, an auto just cant keep up. Not to mention I hate the smell of burnt ATF, and hotlapping most tracks will run your tranny nice and hot!

That's true, but you could get SFCs (sub frame connectors) if you are really worried about the body flex. The main draw backs to t-tops are leaks (usually very easy to fix) and t-top cars have pretty strict regulations at the track. Some people claim their t-tops squeak, either they had a older car or it was the underwear gnomes.

Yes, but if you are competing at the level I was talking about many of the various racing organizations have a lot of rules about which mods are allowed or disallowed. For example if you were to want to do SCCA solo2, a stock camaro z28 would be in the F stock class (an SS would be B stock). A camaro z28 with subframe connectors would instantly be placed in the sport modified class, competing with many dedicated race cars. That is ok if you have cubic dollars to throw at the car, but the beauty of that type of event is that you can still compete with a stock z28, and be nationally competitive. Not to mention a hardtop coupe would be stiffer than a t top car if you added SFC's to both

My t tops squeak when it is cold out, but other than that I really have no complaints, other than that I get some cowl shake over hard bumps, a structural characteristic more common to comvertibles than coupes. I love my t tops on those awesome summer days, but I wish my car could be made a bit stronger without hurting me on those autocross days...

Buy the SS with the 6 speed, you will be totally satisified. I had the same decision to make and when I went with the SS with T-tops and 6 Speed, it has been nothing but fun. As for the underwear gnomes, just beat them with a stick, that should take care of those little critters.

I couldn't agree more. T-tops are awesome in the summer, mine have never squeaked? Mine's an 02 though, if they start squeaking I'll start squawking.
