cooling system problem?
cooling system problem?
just changed the waterpump on my car cause it decided to go bad for some god awful reason but having trouble bleeding it there is no pressure release valve on the thermostat housing for the ls1's.I cant get the damn coolant to cirrculate without having to hook it up to a machine.Any one know how to relieve air pocket pressure on ls1's????
That is what everything I've ever replaced a thermostat on did but once the thermostat fully opens it will stabilize and you can fill it and cap it. Then just make sure you have coolant in the overflow so that when the antifeeze cools it will suck in the coolant instead of air.
Take a 10mm wrench and loosen one end of the coolant crossover line that runs between the heads and under the throttle body.
With the line loose add to the radiator until full, run the car some 'till the coolant leaks out of there steady, then tighten it back up.
That's the bleed point it'll let the air out of the heads so that they can fill with coolant.
