They are not CNC'd heads out of the box, and they could use some hand finishing. Flow tests show that on paper they don't flow as good as the other aftermarket castings out there....but out of all the results i have seen the power potential with these are usually on par with these *better* castings. For the price the Dart heads, they offer very good value and alot more potential for future upgrades with additional porting.

I would keep the TR-224 or if you really want to upgrade do some more searching. I haven't seen any spectacular results out the Torquer cams, and the name is certainly decieving...because the torque of these cams is FAR from impressive.

You can get dart heads from SDPC often at a good discount. They come fully assembled with springs good for .600 or more lift.
SDPC also sells the new factory replacement upgraded lifters for around a c-note.

I was getting confused in my own post about what heads with what cam for a minute there I am debating getting a new cam, but if I don't the 205s look like they are the way to go. Otherwise I might get a bigger cam, but of course, then I'll need to upgrade the springs

Thanks for all the help and insight guys, its really appreciated.

99% of the time, yes. However this board seems to have the 1% that have seen decent results with them. I'll try to stay out of another flame war with a couple of people on here, but Dart themselves clearly state that like almost every other head they sell, they are designed for the porter in mind. I read that as they have potential - just not out of the box

I just don't like the 224-cam for anything other than a mild buildup.

The 205s would work well with that cam, but it's not going to make the power you want to make and if you upgraded the cam in the future, you might make less power than with the 225s.

See it's just a matter of perspective and how you interpret the written word. I read that same statement as meaning that for someone that wants more flow than as cast they have added material thickness to the right areas to be able to port them without having to worry about thin spots.

As I said before the 225s work well at my power level as cast. Don't know about the 205s.

If you go with 225s the springs that they come with are good to .625'' which will be good for all but a very radical cam.
