I have an 00 LS1 in my Z, When I did the headers I had I think cast iron manifolds w/ sheetmetal covers..

98-00 -had EGR, no LS6 intake
00-02 -Have no EGR= LS6 intake
00-02 -COULD have the LS6 block, better bottom end bay to bay breething. Forgot exactly what it was called. The luster of the block and the casting #'s are the only way to tell. Or asking someone on here, or someone w/ a trained eye...
Yes, they all have seperate coil packs. However, '98 are individually bolted to the valve cover, where 99+ each bank is on a rail.

Thanks for all your help everyone. I think you may have saved me from making a real bad decision.

Here is an a mail I wrote the guy.

[QUOTE] I did some research over the weekend. It turns out that this engine
could not be exactly what I am looking for. You say the engine and
tranny came out of a 2001 car. However, from my understanding any 2001
or later car came with an LS6 block and LS6 intake. The LS6 intake does
not have an EGR. I see an EGR and a hose coming out of the front of the
intake right behind the throttle body. You can see it in the attached
picture.

If I have been misinformed, please let me know. I am still on the
lookout for a 2001 or later LS1 and T56. [QUOTE]

Now, Here is his response;

[QUOTE] In late 2001 and 2002 motors came with the superior LS6 intake but the block is still LS1. This motor had some aftermarket stuff on it, but I was putting it back to stock in order to sell it quicker.
I had a weiland polished intake on it, along with GROT LT's, ported and polished stage 2 heads. If you would like the LS6 intake I can get you one that no problem, they go for about 300.00, not only that but I still have the weiland intake so I could trade someone for that plus some cash. [QUOTE]

Do you think this guy is just confused or trying to screw me?

Thanks again

Nick

Well he's correct, the blocks weren't LS6...just had an LS6 intake like he said. You could go for the 98-00 block and just add an LS6 intake like he said though...

1998 Engine no doubt, parimeter bolt valve covers are a dead give away. Curious why those heads are on that engine, even if he did swap manifolds it doesn't explain the heads.
