my plan of action has always been to start from the outside and work your way in, you want to open up your intake and exhaust ends first, so id get either a set of headers or high flowing muffler and an SLP lid with a k&n filter

Lid and catback are a good start.... then headers and a tune will really wake that thing up.

Also, are you a M6 or an Auto? If your an auto, then a higher stall converter is another good mod.

ssra, lid, exhaust, depending on what year a ls6 intake. just dont waste your money on the maf, or throttle body yet. drag radials are a help too.

suspension!! sub frame connectors, lower control arms, pan hard bar, etc. that will help you use the horsepower you have. namely the first 2 I listed.

a definate first is gonna be the lid and right behind it some kind of exhaust. all lids are the same basically. go with the one you like the look of and price.
as for exhaust...that all depends on how loud you want it and how much money you have.

for budget you can't go wrong with the hooker, magnaflow, TSP rumbler or SLP loudmouth. go check out www.ls1sounds.com for an idea of how they sound. flowmasters sound good but are generally accepted as the worst for hp gains.

the suspension is a good idea too. a great start for that is the lower control arms to help prevent wheelhop. another worthwhile and cheap upgrade is to a polyurathane torque arm mount. it will help firm up the rear on launching and shifts and only costs about $15.

Re: Bolt ons where to start

I'd start with SFCs as my first mods, then lid/catback/headers
