Hey all,

I'm in the market to buy an LS1 Camaro/Trans am, anyways I went to test drive a 02 35th anniversary m6. On CL it looked like a good deal with only 63k on it...When I hopped in I noticed it had no ASR/TCS button where they usually are next to the 35th anni plaque and above the stereo?
I asked the guy if it would burn out and he said yes but didn't do that sort of thing...(of course not) LOL. But he said in the rain the car would shut down like normal? This doesn't make any sense to me, I have a couple freinds that had LS1's and they all had the ASR to turn off and on.

Anyone have some insight? or am I an idiot? LOL

Yup, no button above the radio = no ASR (anti slip regulation).

AND no TCS switch in front/left of the shifter on firebirds = no traction control. Same thing for both cars, just diff names and button placement.

and no, it wont shut down wheelspin in the rain like a car with traction control. the salesman is confused.

HOWEVER, you can get some aid to starting out in slippery conditions with the automatic trans by shifting it into 2 (second gear). From a dead stop it will start in 2nd gear, instead of 1st, to limit the torque and hopefully spin the tires less.

yes, most definitely. to be honest, mine has terrible tires, so i can break loose in 2nd without clutch dumping o.O

you can still go through a set of rears in a day with it , just turn it off . a 450 dollar option on the camaro ... ( my 01 , which just turned 10 on the 13th of april )

I just wanted to make a comment about the window sticker above. If I pound the **** out of my 01ss I get no less than 19mpg. When I use to take it to Michigan on vacation the best I could get was 24mpg. When I do use my car which is not very often I get about 22mpg. My SS with about 100hp more than my other 2 350 cars gets about 8 mpg better in everyday driving. I could never complain about mpg with this car. Anyone else have something similar.

they dont warm up fast. i drive mine reasonably nice, and i get 12-13. 99% of my trips are under 2 miles. i get much better mileage driving like a maniac, because its warm when i do, lol.
