Re: 6.0 vs 5.3 heads?

I hope you're not talking about doing 5.3 or 6.0L heads on your LT1???

From what I understand, the 5.3L heads have smaller chambers than any (or most? ) of the other 5.7L or 6.0L heads.....BUT, if you get the LS6 heads from the 5.7L LS6, or I believe it's the "LQ9" heads off the 6.0L truck engine (could be LQ4, but I'm sure it's LQ9 ) then they are the best "flowing" (the ports and chambers are the biggest, and will net the most HP). I think that the 5.3L heads flow similar to stock LS1 castings, but like I said before, they have smaller chambers, so they'll boost compression. The LQ9 truck heads, while they flow the same as LS6 heads, they have larger chambers and will reduce compression compared to LS6 heads.....they're probably the best bet for a forced-induction setup though. Somewhere in my "library" of magazines, I've got a really good article that breaks down ALL the Gen-III line of heads.....IIRC, the LS6 heads still stand as the best ones to get, while the LQ9 are probably "runner up" due to their good flow. And again, I'm pretty sure that 5.3L / LS1 heads flow similar, but you get more compression with 5.3L...

.....sorry for being long winded.....hope you got some answers there?!
