500rwhp 408 iron block how hard?

Switching to lsx engine, was wondering how many have seen, own, or know of a combo that can yield 500rwhp NA. SO many heads and cams out there for these engines, just need a good start and don't want to do everything twice.

Thanks,
Nick

well hell...Kraest made 471rwhp on a stock cube lsx motor...FM15 cam, dart 225 heads, FAST 90/90

i would think you could pick up the extra 30hp with a little bigger cam and better flowing heads on a 408ci block

The car is an automatic, with a 12 bolt, and on a Mustang Dyno, so I was pretty pleased with the numbers.

The questions is, how much money do you want to spend?

fixed.... we all would love to spend more than we have, or at least i know id be spending $20k if i had it right now. eric from vre posted pix of a s88 turbo f-body that was absolutely sick. 1500 hp if i remember correctly. wonder if the 408 block can handle that?

This is the vehicle the S88 turbo is going on. This project will consist of a:

-VRE 408
-4L80e Transmission
-Moser 12 Bolt
-Big Stuff 3
-Custom 10pt Cage

The BigStuff3 GEN3 PRO SEFI system is the first programmable “powertrain” control module for“today’s” SEFI, Coil-on-Plug (COP) engines and
electronic controlled transmissions.

It will basically replace the factory pcm, and control the 4L80e transmission. It will also give us alot more tunability for this high horsepower combination.

Automatics are going to be much harder to make 500 rwhp through than a 6-speed, but nearly any nasty ETP/AFR/ported LS6 headed, 25x/26x duration cammed, with a sheetmetal intake (or FAST 90/90) should have no problem at all making over 500 rwhp through an auto.

Futral built a Meaux LS6-headed, sheet metal intaked, solid-roller 347 that made 512 rwhp through a TH400, 12-bolt, on 28" slicks.

Seems all the power house LSX motors in GM High-Tech are running with the help of the Big Stuff 3... the poor LT1 is so dead in the water.
