WOT throwing a code- need help

okay cars was running decent but missing everynow and then untill i finally installed an LT4 KM which smoothed everything out- car pulls hard and strong and runs near perfect-

my problem now is when im at WOT around 5k im getting what feels like a mis and ill throw a SES light- when i scan it says:

P0141 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) heater circuit Bank 1 Sensor 2

after a bit this will clear and light goes off- car runs perfect any other RPM or if not WOT-

what could be causing this? the o2's are about 5 months old so im thinkin this isnt the problem- but u never know... im just wondering what could be causing this only at WOT and at that high RPM -

It could be that your cat is on it's way out. WOT is when your dumping the most fuel and flowing the most air.

Without the LT4 KM you werent getting it? Try putting the LT1 KM back in to see if the problem goes away. You might have a faulty component. Also hook up a scanning tool and get your 02 readings and post them if you can. Id like to see the hydracarbons read out.

its really wierd- car runs perfect then WOT around 5k it misses and throws the o2 code- ill try and test the sensors and see the readings before i head back to rochester, ny - if not ill let it be since ill be parking a long time and gut the cats in spring

Re: WOT throwing a code- need help

The P0141 code is set based on a diagnostic that looks at how much time it takes for the O2 sensor to start sending signals, indicating that it is fully warmed up. It only runs this diagnostic during cold start. Seems odd that the SES light would only show up at WOT/5000rpm. Are you sure that is the code you got?

It would not be related to the knock module in any way, and would not be a failing cat.

You're gonna have to take a scan tool and check the PID data to see what kinda of voltage you are getting back from the sensor. Check the harness to the sensor for any type of visual damage, and intermittent wiring problem that is occuring at WOT, or the sensor itself it shot. If you have a buddy to ride with you and view the scan tool as you're beating on the car, or a scanner that'll record a few seconds of the PID data while you pound on it, that helps a bit. See if you can check the freeze frame data, as usually it will tell you under what conditions the code tripped. RPM, O2 voltage, TP, MAF, and others will be stored in the PCM. Usually that code will trip when it switches into closed loop, and the sensor is either not up to temp, or sending a signal that out of parameter.
