Windshield wiper problem

Yesterday I turned on my windshield wipers, just like any other day when it rains. When I got to my destination I turned them off, but they never went back to their off position. Instead of the windshield wiper arms going to their off position they stay fully extended when I put them on the off position. When I turn them on they work fine with no problems, but they just don't go back to the home position when I turn them off. If anyone knows what is the problem I would appreciate the help. Thank you

As a patch, not a fix - this happened to my DD a few years ago. I never fixed it. Instead, I put it into delay mode, which parks the wipers each time. Then I turn them off while they are parked. Just a thought, a fix would certainly be better.

Now I'm really curious how to fix this now, too. Here's some data I dug up, just for the heck of it.

Question: 1999 Chevrolet Camaro, miles: 108,000. Last year during the winter I turned on the wipers, they were frozen, and the motor went but the wipers never. Now instead of staying down they stay up. What will make them stay down instead of up? They still work.

Answer: The park switch inside the wiper motor may have failed. That switch is part of the wiper motor assembly. Replacing the motor assembly should fix your problem.

Q. Mr. Ciulla, I own a 1994 Chevy Camaro Coupe V-6, automatic transmission, 110,000 miles. I am having problems with my wipers. They make a lot of noise mostly at the transition points between going up and down. They also do not go all the way down when turned off. How do I go about fixing this problem?

Thanks in advance,
John S.
Chevy Camaro Windshield Wipers

A. They could be out of time. Remove the arms and see if they can be put on any way. Some are "keyed" so they only go on one way. Some you can put on anywhere. If you can move them anywhere, remove both, turn on wipers and then turn off. When they are "parked" off install both arms in their home position and try them. If they are keyed, there may be an adjustment on the main linkage rod.

Just recently when I turned my wipers on, they would not turn off. I changed the wiper switch and it did not fix the problem. Has anyone had this problem before or does anyone know how to fix it without taking it to get it fixed and spending a insane amount of money?? Thanks
I don't know, you guys be the judge. I'm with the circuit and switch, possibly.

I have had the same exact problem on my 94 (and I have those big bulky wiper arms so it takes a pretty big chunk out of my field of view), the windshield wiper motor is the culprit. Not hard to replace!

Good luck
