window washer lines

I need to replace the washer lines. Is there line available and unions to join into the existing line? Can this be a hardware store fix or do I have to use 'genuine Chevrolet Parts". Thanks for a reply. JBirdSS

Re: window washer lines

Auto parts would be your best bet. But hardware store would probably work.

Can't find a description or picture of the line routing from the washer fluid tank to the nozzles near the wipers. Anyone have a clue? Where does it branch for the right and left side? Thanks for any reply or help.

On my Firebird, the line runs over the inner fenderwell on the driver's side. Only one line runs to the windshield. The line splits underneath the cowl.

This info is EXCELLENT! Thanks for replies. Shoebox; I searched your site and couldn't find that diagram. For future reference what manual would you recommend for me to buy to begin my research on a 96 SS problem before I decide to take it to a mechanic? The Haynes book didn't have anything on this seemingly easy problem. The washer line in contained inside a large bundle of electrical wiring and the crack would be impossible to find. Replacing the whole line is the only solution. Again, this forum is the best.

If you look at the bundle of wires on the inner fenderwell, you will notice there is only one going to the windshield. That's the washer line.

These are the factory manuals and are the best, but expensive. You can sometimes find them on E-Bay.

It did not come from my site. It cam from compnine.com.

A used factory manual is the best value and the best manual. Get used from Ebay or other online resellers of used manuals.

Re: window washer lines

For the do-it-yourself guys. I used some PVC 1/4" black irrigation line and 2 easy disconnect unions for the fix of the leaky line. The stock line is a few thousandths smaller than the 1/4 dia. new line and wrapping it with about two rounds of electrician's tape made the install tight enough for the unions to be completely drip free.

The quick connect coupling is made by WATTS PL-3000 1/4" OD purchased at Lowes.
