Where can you double check the window VIN
Where can you double check the window VIN
I'm looking at buying a 97 SS and would like to be sure that it is a real ss. I verified through SLP that the VIN was infact an SS but would like to verify that the VIN in the window wans't changed.
Where else can you find VIN #'s?
Any other ways to tell it a real SS other that SLP and RPO code R7T?

Attached to anything like glove box doors can always be changed. You need to find one of the decals that's attached to sheet metal.
You'll have to do some disassembly to find them. The easiest is the decal on the driver's door but then doors can also be replaced unless the decal is on the door jam.
There should be one on the underside of the deck lid. You need to remove the plastic to see it. Deck lids can be replaced.
There should also be VIN decals on the inside of the rear fenders behind the tires. Pull out the spare tire and remove the plastic. These VIN decals would be hard to replace since they're attached to the main body sheetmetal.

A portion of the VIN is on the engine, and on the tranny.
