Weird Noise

Ok i have just purchased this vehicle.. 99 camaro v6. Car needed new struts and shocks, Replaced the struts and shocks, was told i didnt need to replace strut mounts so i didnt, Now for the noise, what im getting is a noise when going slow over dips and driveways etc. not really a squeaking sound more like rubber on metal but not positive, sounds like coming fron front end somewhere but cant pinpoint it, and the sound is louder when going into driveways from a angle where it compresses front end more, any help would be appreciated.

Re: Weird Noise

The upper spring/shock mount rots, the rubber tears leaving the shock mounting ferrule loose, and will cause a clunking. You had to examine the upper mounts when you replaced the front shocks (no struts on a 4th Gen, they are coil-over shocks). What kind of condition were they in?

Have you checked your front lower control arm bushings the rear most bushing likes to we're pretty fast also if you tightend the bottom front control arms while the car was in the air sometimes u get a squeaking bushing from that tie rods can give a bump while pulling into driveways

Re: Weird Noise

nevermind the vehicle, but my wife explorer sport would do that too. put your car on rhino ramps and crawl under front. grab the sway bar like grabbing to do a pull up but push away like upside down push up quick and fast and watch the sway bar mounts. i worked some wd40 into it and hadn't squeeked for 20k miles. i changed the end links too since i was under there.

Thanks for the advice, My issue was A arm bushings and ball joints. Sway bar was fine. Thing was clunking something awful, Got them replaced and everything is good now. Oh yea replaced tie rod ends too as well.
