Re: T-top owners?

02 SS 36,000 miles - no leaks

The only time I have experienced any problem is the one, single, solitary time I ran the car thru a car wash (unwritten rule of mine not to use those things - hand wash only). When the sprayers came by the windows it leaked in where the door glass meets the b pillar and where it meets the t-top. At a pretty good rate too. It wasn't a tone of water, but it was more than a couple of drips. A few days later I was going thru the file cabinet and was looking at papers from the purchase. Burried with everything else was a single piece of paper that said something like "WARNING: do not use automatic car washes. Water may lieak in around window seals" or something like that. I think it mentioned something about the high pressure could momentarily break the seal between the window and weatherstriping (which is what happened in my case). Just an FYI

Our '97 Firebird has 41,000 miles on the clock and no leaks at all.

Our '98 Trans Am has 61,000 on the clock and also, no leaks.

Re: T-top owners?

Mine leaks veeeeeeery slowly if it has been raining for a long time, like in the range of 3 hours or so. When it has been raining that long a small drop will fall through every 20 minutes or so, so it's not a big deal.

It does leak in car washes though; they all do.

Mine must be a real freek compared to your guys stories!

Today we had the reminant rain from Jenny and luckly I fliped both seat backs forward and left a towil on the drivers seat, but my back left floor and seat were SOAKED, I finly parked the car in the garage with the window down to try to dry it out.

In reflection I'd probibly buy a hardtop if it were possible to find a hard top with nice options, but cuz I'm the second owner even though my car had a clean carfax I sometimes question weather it could have been hit and maybe it's out of ballence I only have 40,000miles and have all this leaking problems

My 86 hasn't leaked ever, I haven't even changed the seals yet.. I don't high pressure wash my car though.. Not that it has a nice paint job on it yet, I just don't have a high pressure wand at my home...

Re: T-top owners?

Mine did leak when I bought it, but I put some silicone on the part that was leaking and it didn't leak a bit when hurrican ivan came through. Then when I took the t-tops off on Sunday I think the silicone seal broke and when Jeanne came through it leaked VERY little, just a small drop every few minutes. When I put the silicone on again, I'll let it fully dry before I put the t-tops back on so maybe when I take them off it won't break the seal.

Even though I knew they were prone to leak, t-tops was a requirement for me when I bought my Camaro. I love t-tops.
