T-top owners?

Does your car leak? when you drive in the rain or during a wash job?, I was just wondering, I don't want to spend the money on a car, and be dissapointed.

Mine don't leak so far. I only have 16,000 miles on the car though.

Re: T-top owners?

Mine leaks, the car has 80k on a 94 z28. Only in very high pressure car washes, in the rain no. My friends 98 Z28 also leaks in car washes, but not in the rain.

Re: T-top owners?

Mine leaks a little on the driver's side b/c the previous owner somehow screwed up the weather stripping. Almost looks like they put the top on, and the weather stripping was folded under it a little, and it sat in 100*F direct sunlight for a whole summer or something. It only really leaks when it's a downpour though.

One day I'll get around to getting new weather stripping, probably when I switch to leather seats.

Re: T-top owners?

2001 with 67K miles here ... no leaks, with a few exceptions:

High pressure car wash (wand type, not drive through) -- few drips inside

Driving in a downpour -- never leaks, as long as door wasn't opened in rain.

Car sitting in rain, then I open door to get in -- a little water remains on the weatherstrip between the top and the window. I guess that little amount of water creates a path for heavy rain to follow and I get about 1 drip / minute.

That's what made me ask this question, I've been trying to decide if I want to sell my cars and get a Z28 or preferablly a SS. I've been learning as much as I can, the last 2 months, because, I knew nothing about these machines, and, I've learned a lot, reading and asking different things on this board, I finally, about 2 weeks ago, decided to sell my old cars, and get a Camaro, and when I read this , it made me wonder if I'm doing the right thing. I have the Impala for sale, and will put the other one, up, next week.

Re: T-top owners?

I have a 94 and they never leak either. I take then on/off all the time. Now the only area that leaks for me is when the window dont seal to the the t-top.

Same here, almost word for word. What small, occasional leakage there is, is certainly not enough to make me sell my car!

I also have 4 friends with T-topped 4th-gens ('95 Z28, '96 T/A, 2 '97 Z28's) and none of those guys complain about leaking T's either. We all love' em.
