Stripped Drain Plug

What would be the best way to fix a stripped oil pan drain plug?

Is the plug stripped or the pan? If it's the plug, they sell replacements at auto parts stores. If the pan, you could buy a tap or thread-chaser and try to cleean up the threads so it will work again.

Don't know for sure. Hopefully it's the plug. I wasn't sure if re-tapping to the same size would work, but if it is the pan, I'll try that first. What's a thread chaser?

A thread-chaser is like a tap, but doesn't cut as hard. More like an aggressively threaded bolt. Used to clean up damaged threads, as opposed to creating threads out of nothing.
