the z28 and the ss are pretty similar in performance times, the SS might be a touch heavier due to the rims but on the other hand they come with a better flowing exhaust that is worth 5-10 hp. my lt1 97ss seemed to be a tenth or 2 faster over a the lt1 z28...consistantly!

as for monetary reasons, the SS holds its value better in my opinion! to me, its worth getting an SS.
performance, handling, apperance and the ability to hold its value and easier to sell, is well woth it to me! i sold my 97ss and it wasnt on the market!

Wow... this is all news to me.

I could've sworn that the SS was the equivalent of the Mustang Cobra, thus having a supercharger.

So can someone confirm.... SC or no SC?

you're kidding right? we all wish the 4th gens came with a factory supercharger. the answer by the way is no...no supercharger in the SS. didnt need it b/c cobra weren't all that stock up until recently, when they became monsters.

i think the main diff performance wise was SLP added a better catback, (worth about 10 hp). some better suspension and plenty of cosmetics. magazine times are SS 13.5, and Z28 13.8. (MOTOR TREND).

I guess, considering any LS1 can run anything from a ~13.0 to a ~14.0, regardless of year or transmission. It all depends where and in what conditions the car is being run, and whether or not it was a "factory freak".
