Okay guys, LS1 f body. Stage 1 summit camswap. Long tube headers, new coil packs, wires, plugs, 02 sensors, 92 mm throttle body, tunedCar is running rough. Won't accelerate properly. Maf is reading ok it seems. Long term fuel trim is reading okay.
no codes at all..
Summit told me I did not need to replace the valve springs for a stage 1 cam.. and I didn't because I was holding out for new heads. I've checked everything I can think of. Is it the tune? Did I need valve springs? Am I ****ed? Thanks for your time
Did the running rough start as soon as the cam swap and tune were finished, or did it work fine for a while and then start running rough? If the latter, how long until things went south?
Can you elaborate on “running rough”? At idle? Stumble on acceleration? What symptoms are you seeing exactly, and when?
If the problem were that this cam is too much for the springs, you’d likely only have an issue at high RPMs.
Thanks for responding, it was bone stock before the camswap, ran very well. It has hesitation, and will not accelerate at all. Summit racing told me I didn't need valve springs for this camshaft when I ordered it. After speaking to a c.s. mgr, the tech was dead wrong. Summit said they are going to make it right. So I'm going to do a compression test tomorrow to check for bent valves. I'm going to then pull the valve covers and check for bent pushrods, and anything else that doesn't seem right. My question is, being that I have coil bind for sure, is it possible to have bent valves, or would they just be floating z causing horrible compression. I will upload s video of her running tomorrow. Thanks again
The problem with the car started upon fire up of the motor directly after the upgrades it will not accelorate very well at all now. Car has 3 separate custom tunes adjusted for my modifications exactly. The car acts as though when I punch it my TB only opens 90°, although that is definitely not the case. I believe what I am experiencing is valve float, causing weak compression and there4 a lack of power. Summit is saying they will provide restitution for whatever is damaged if anything. I'd just like to know if it's possible for the valves to have been hit due to the cam swap/ stock valve spring setup
