Repower

This may sound crazy and if you see any gaping holes in my plan please let me know. So as now, my car will never pass emissions, its how I set it up and I am not concerned with emissions till next July. My plan was to rebuild the shortblock for forced induction and run a more emissions friendly cam. However, I just relized that the 96 LT1s were OBDII. So if I were to repower with a 96 block and run OBDII, would I still get a sniff test or would it be just the plug and play deal?

It's hard to help with no car info like year or engine. The smog test is based on the year of your car. Everything 95 and earlier gets the sniffer test. A lot of places will just do the plug in test for OBD2 cars, but some do the sniffer as well. That said, I think changing the engine management system in emissions states is illegal, even if you upgrade to OBD2.
