Siemens vs Dorman Window Motor

Autozone lists two different companys, which one is the preferred one to go with these days? Siemens or Dorman?

The cheapest one. Make sure it has a lifetime warranty. All the motors are pretty much the same anyway.

On another note, the Autozone website shows the Cardone motor has a $15 core return, so you can ask them about that.

Yeah that's cause the Cardone is a REMAN. Where's it looks like the Siemens and Dorman are possibly new.

Reman. is the same as new. It's just the old case with new guts. Like I said, they will all last about the same. They all have the same defect, so it doesn't really matter anyway.

Yeah I figured as much but I could swear that I saw somewhere at one point where someone was saying that the Siemens ones are all redesigned or something...

If you keep blowing out motors then you have other problems. Check for an obstruction on the tracks, and grease the rails and rollers.

And measure the voltage to the motor- if you run them at too low volts, they go slow, get hot, and burn up- They make a relay kit to run like 10 or 12 ga. wire to the motor, and use the switch to fire the relays for the heavy cable-

Go with the cheapest one with a lifetime guarantee-

I went through 3 motors on pass and 2 on drivers, and both started going so slow (a good 30 seconds bottom to top). So I made my own relay kit for both doors with 8 gauge off the battery with the same motors and now they are faster than in my 2006 Tundra

The Dorman looks just like the the NAPA motor I installed about a month ago--both have a cast aluminum gear head and both are mfg in Vietnam. The NAPA motor works but is NOISY as hell. I ended up across the street at Advance where they had the Siemens motor in stock (stamped steel housing--made in USA) for the same price. I'll know after the weekend if its as quiet as OEM. HTH
