my radio stations sound like crap. If i wash my car or if it rains the stations go in and out. while im driving. I cant find any leaks. where should i start looking im thinking its some where in the trunk area where the problem is. anybody else have this problem, is it the antenna? I have a 1999 camaro ss.

 

And have always thought the reception was less than stellar for a fixed mast antenna.

But, I never noticed it being any different in wet weather.

I always liked windshield antennas myself , but GM thought differently on that one.

If you have not already done so, pull the spare tire cover & take a look - perhaps there is a bare wire or something.

FWIW, though, the wife has an '01 Ford Ranger w/ a fixed mast antenna - it's a real struggle in her truck to get the radio to find one local station whereas my car - no problem.

Maybe some radios are just more sensitive than others - ?
