Does 96 trans Am`s have the retained accessory power feature? The reason I`m asking is because if they do mine never worked until today. I cut the car off and the radio stayed on till I opened the door, I thought it was my imagination at first till I tried it again and it worked again, just thought it was strange that it would start working now

 

Yes. RAP is built-in to the BCM.

 

any idea why it would just start working , i have had the car for 8 yrs and it has never worked before

 

hmmm...now that you say that wtf is up with that. Mine used to do it on my 93...my 96 doesnt...perhaps the aftermarket headunit has something to do with it. Mine turns off once the key is turned...I think - Ill check again today

 

my 93 has it and it works great...power windows, radio, all that b.s.

 

tried mine again last night and it only works if i turn the key slowly,

 

Mine works fine, even with the after market head unit.
