Retained Accessory Power Module Bad?
Retained Accessory Power Module Bad?
I am having an electrical issue with my 97 Z28 that I cannot figure out. If I turn my key to the accessory position where I can listen to the radio without the car on, it will work fine unless I open the door. When I have the door open, my radio cuts off and on like the power is not sufficient to run the dome light and radio.
It also tends to do it some when the car is running. For instance, sometimes when I use my blinker, my radio will shut off then come back on. I know it's not the radio itself because it's done this with two different units. Could it be my R.A.P. module? Opinions?

Radio shutting off when you open the door is normal.
If it's shutting off when you use a blinker or other electrical equipment, you could possibly have it wired wrong/have a bad ground/loose wire. I had a similar issue but it was caused by one of the radio fuses missing in the door fuse panel.
HTH,
