Quick Question on Gauge Lights

Not sure if this the proper forum, but I just installed some new gauges and need to know what color wire to tap into to make the gauge lights come on when I turn the headlights on. Any help would be appreciated. I did look at shoebox's site and didn't see anything in relation to that - at least anything I could understand, not too good at understanding those wiring diagrams.

Your right this post probably should in the audio/electronic forum, but I think GM uses the orange wire in the dash for controlled guage illumination. Verify with a meter on it while moving the dimmer switch.

One of the fuses in the panel at the end of the dash is for the instrument panel dimmer. You can tap into the load side of that fuse, and the gauge lights will come on with the dash lights, and dim with the dash light dimmer rheostat.

Woops, not the orange wire, but the grey wire for panel illumination. I find it on the radio harness, since I have an aftermarket radio with OEM type plugin connector.
