Well mine is way overdue...like by 2 years and the cops finally started to crack down on me...i highly doubt i will pass but im gettin my cats reinstalled and im going to get my engine codes taken care of...i heard here in jersey they wont check your emissions if you have no check engine light and everything seems to be in order but im not sure on this...so if anyone knows for sure it would be great.

 

For the OBD-II cars (96 and up) they plug into the computer. If the SES light is not on, there are no codes, and no more than 2 (I think) "system not ready" flags, they do not do the dyno emissions test. They can do a "visual", but I seldom see them pop the hood. They will check gas cap and the fuel tank for holding pressure, and there's the normal brake and suspension tests.
