yeah.. i like iamsparc's idea. except, i'll find a way to do it so you won't need the key at all. i'm sure it's possible.

hey Bell...if you do that...let me know. It would be REALLY cool to just punch in a code and start the car with no key at all. You'll just have to figure out how to bypass the steering wheel lock and all that jazz...but definitely do-able.

dis-assemble the column part way, pull the locking pin, reassmble.

really its easy, its right up top.

after that its the simple electronic circut.

have the keypad... proper code flips relay on.
have a kill button. pressing this kills the relay, same as turning the key off.
start button is like having the key on the start position.

If any of you accomplish the keypad start with no key, Please do a writeup of it. I'd love to have that instead of using a key. Would you still be able to start the car with a key though?

the coolest keyless starter is the Lexus one I think, with the fingerprint scanner. I wish there was a way I could just install a tiny fingerprint scanner pad on my center console, touch it with my finger, and the car would start!

What would be realy cool is to get a little electric solenoid (like the one used to lock the shifter on an a4 until the brake is pressed) and make it so it would still lock until the code is pushed. It would be pretty easy to wire it up to a relay with the ignition switch.

ok, i'm gonna do this start button soon. I'm also gonna get a remote car starter key fob thing..............so

Can both of these work together yet independent of each other? As in, I can start my car from the remote start OR i can get in the car, turn the key to ON and press the button to start. Can these be done on the same car?

All of what you want to do is very possible... bypass the keyfob, PIN unlocking, remote start, heck, it all depends on how far you want to get into your cars electronic system, and possibly how much you like electronics.

The sky is the limit on this, the knowledge is out there on the internet on how to do everything you want, although you'll have to piece it together.

I've got a whole lot of ideas of what I'd like to do, but I'm laquing in time and a location to setup another of my mad-scientist rooms (I NEED TO FIND A DAMN HOUSE ).. once I do that, over this winter I've got TONS of projects like this that I'm planning on doing.

Custom Microcontrolled HUD, Push-button start with code-jumping tranciver technology (Similar to the new MBs), Some custom LED work in the dash, plus a whole bunch of other "little" tricks that I've been thinking of for a while...
