just curious what you can get these cars down to with everything removed really just made to be a drag car. I know lexon windows would make a huge difference but with all the other crap seems you might be able to get these cars down to 3000 pounds? I see some pretty cheap (below 3 grand) LT1s out there that would be perfect for track use. I don't know, maybe a 3rd gen would be lighter?

I removed the spare tire, jack and back seat out of my car and it weighed 3250 with a 1/4 tank of gas and me not in it. Since you could still remove the front seat, cartpet, all interior panels, a/c, and a lot of other stuff I think it would be very easy to get a 4th gen down to 3000. However, 3000 with the driver might be a little difficult (depending on how much you weigh).

My 4th. Gen race car weighs 2840 without me in it. That's completely gutted. Nothing behind the stock dash, one Jegs poly racing seat, a bolt-in Wolfe roll bar. We stripped out the wiring harness and rewired it with only the circuits needed for racing. No front or rear bumper supports, Be Cool radiator, BMR K-member and control arms, manual steering rack, manual brakes, no ABS This car is strip only and has nothing that is unnecessary.

When I can afford it I will remove even more weight. Aerospace lightweight brakes, VFN fiberglass doors and hatch, lexan windows.
