Optima Red Top battery install??

I'm getting ready to put my Optima Red Top battery in, (after in put the rest of the car back together.) I was wondering if I had to do any modifications to my battery tray for it to fit correctly?

On my 94 Formula, the Optima would not sit flush on the battery tray. I had to cut the raised lip off the edge of the tray to get it to sit flush.

My red top sit in the battery tray just like it was supposed to also with no modifications. Do they make different size Optima red tops, or are they all the same?

They make different group numbers that will fit with certain vehicles -- there is some squeezing and moving around to get it in just right however.

I believe the Group 75 Red Top is the one you want for the F-Body.

I didn't have any troubles with mine either. I believe I am using the group 75 battery.

Of course there are different size Optima batteries! You need to use the right size for your car, according to the chart located where they sell them. I used a Group 75 Red Top, and it fit just right.

Mine doesn't fit. Not sure what group it is, but the clamp won't grab the feet of the battery without sliding it forward so I ended up getting some thick rubber material (similiar to radiator hose) and put it in front of the battery, effectively jamming it to the clamp. No problems now.

I remember mine was according to the specifics of the chart, I just can't remember off the top of my hand what model it is without popping the hood.
