oil psi drop fast

under load psi drops fast. never had this issue with this motor untill new pan and pick up. at idle its fine also down the street and back its fine. so no i diddnt check pick up pan clearance. it could be to close to let the amount of oil it needs in at higher rpms right?

What oil pump are you running (stock, high volume, high pressure) and what oil pan are you running? Does it have a windage tray? What changes, if any have been made to the engine?

You need to add a "signature" with basic info about your car - year, model, engine, trans and any major mods.

Re: oil psi drop fast

bbc. it ran a stock pan with high volume pump and no tray. never had a problem. now im running a chevell pan (low pro to fit in my car)with the called for pick up. the pump is the same . very low miles so i felt the risk would be the same as installing a new one. when i said high rpm i should have just said half throutle sorry. im pritty sure its the pickup to pan clearance because i diddnt check it.

What part is a BBC - the engine or the oil pump? And if its a BBC, what vehicle is it in? Extremely confusing.

ok the dang pickup tube fell out. how the heck dose that happen when its pressed in and brazed... ok well got new oil pump. test fitted the pickup for pan clearance and its good. pressed the pickup in welded it and for extra safety i took a strip of metel and fabed up a strap from a cover bolt to the tube and tacked that. im glad oil psi only droped a few times and rapidly went back up. so im not even going to stress on anything.
