no start

no start

i have a 79 that was converted from a manual to an auto replaced the starter now I am getting power to the dash lights come on but nothing happens when I turn the key over the clutch is still in the car and you still have to push it in to start it even though it is an automatic and I have no idea what it could be I checked all my fuses they are all good battery is good would anyone have any idea of what it could be I would really appreciate it thank you

If it won't start unless you put the clutch on the floor, it would appear that there is a clutch safety switch that is preventing the starter circuit from engaging unless that switch is in the correct position - a common safety feature in manual trans cars. Examine the area around the clutch pedal for a switch.

Appears you must have wired up the P/N safety switch for the auto trans shifter, or it wouldn't start either. You just need to bypass the clutch safety switch, if there is one.
