Need Opinion on 96 Camaro SS....

Hey guys, looking for an opinion here. I am looking at a 1996 Camaro SS with about 100K miles on it.. It is in really good shape I am looking to buy it as a toy to drive on the weekends.

My question, the car has been to SLP but I don't know what mods were done by SLP, but I know the previous owner has done many mods to the motor. In your opinion do the mods made to the motor (new cam, port polish heads and intake, Ceramic headers and 3 angle valve grind and I am sure a few more) hurt the collector value that may have been ther for being an SLP car? If not do you think it will help or hurt the value in the future?

Looking for any opinions..

Thanks,

Generally, anything not 100% stock will hurt collector value.

That said, you can restore it to stock later if you can find the right parts(or get the old ones from the owner). I personally would not look at getting it for collector value if your looking for a toy. Buy it, mod it, drive it, and enjoy!! No trailer queens in this garage.

For pure collector's value, it would have to be unmodified.

Any kind of modification hurts the value of the car.

With that being said, I would ask the owner of the car if he still has the original parts.

If you want something to drive only on the weekends and for it to be a fun "toy" without having to worry about the collector's value being hurt, I would personally get an older muscle car.

It seems as if a lot of newer muscle cars are depreciating in value while the 60's and 70's muscle cars are still rissing.

If I were you, I would either get an older muscle car or see if the owner has the original parts to 96 SS (even though these cars keep dropping in price).

I have a '97 SS and I'm camming it. LTx SS's aren't THAT desirable and I plan on holding on to mine for a long time so it doesn't bother me. I do plan on keeping my stock cam, rockers, etc for the future. If they're worth a ton in the future, I'll put the stock cam back in and rebuild the bottom end if needed.

My 97 SS now has 110k miles. daily driver/commuter still running like a champ. I've modded the crap out of it because im never gonna sell it and by the time it finally dies gas will probably be crazy expensive and who's going to want to but a 14 mpg car anyway.
