Its kinda stuck or I'm not doing it right. All 4 retaining bolts are off as well as the pulley nut. Am I missing something??

If you're planning to rebuild it, just get a parts store rebuild. The old GM units could be rebuilt at home, however, the late-models are difficult to impossible.

The halves can be very tight to the ring (thing with the coils). I had to do some prying. The front bearing is pressed into the front case half but the rear is free.

Dont freak out when the brushes pop out after you separate them and dont lose the springs.Yyou will need a very small allen wrench inserted through the rear case to hold the brushs in during reassmbly. The whole thing is fairly intuitive.

i just used a rubber mallet and tapped on the little ears until it dropped. Unless you are just replacing the brushes I wouldnt bother rebuilding it. I rebuilt mine and had to change the voltage regulator bc it was overcharging and the regulator died after a bit over a year. I bought both the regulator and the brushes from oreillys. Its not hard just not worth it due to the quality of parts available imho

Yup. That's what I'm doing. Thanks for the link OBE. I looked at it last time I posted, and it is very helpful. I shouldn't have a problem putting it back together, just gotta get it apart first! I'll try beatin' it with a malet. Thanks guys.

i was on autozone's(or maybee advanceauto) web site the other day and you can get anything to rebuild them, and i think they are pretty much common sence to rebuild if you you can diagnose whats bad in them.

You can replace the regulator, the bearing or the brushes, beyond that I don't think you can go further into a rebuild. While thats almost everything its not quite everything you could replace.
