I've probably personally unlocked 150 cars this way (used to work at body shop) and seen about 1000 in my life and never once has there been a fire in the door because of it. I'd say you probably have a better chance of winning the lotto tonight then you do of starting a fire in your door.

Best bet is to call a locksmith and pay the $30-$40.
a monkey could break into an fbody, its one of the easiest cars there is and shouldnt take more then 5 minutes

Lightbulb Re: Need help quick!? keys locked in car.

I have a simple thing I use to get into my car last time I locked my keys in it.
Use a golf club a putter.
It has a L shape to it so you can slide the lock handle over.
Just don't droped the club in the car.
Trust me it works like a charm.

Good luck,

Chris.

LOL... and people think those plastic wallet keys from GM are so silly....

I always carry a spare door key in my wallet... just in case!

Question Re: Need help quick!? keys locked in car.

Hay wogert.
Can you still get those plastic wallet keys?
I have a 97.
I don't think I will lock my keys in my care agine.
But you never know and I hate prying on the window.
I'm afrade one day I'll pry a little too much.

Thanks,

Chris.

Yeah, most dealerships still carry the plastic wallet key. I've seen a few locksmiths carry them also. If you have trouble finding one, Curtis makes them.

For an F-body (or any VATS car) you only get a door key, and I've seen a ton of people break off the plastic key in the lock. So I use a plain 'ol every day steel key tucked into my wallet.

Good point.
I'll use a steel key.
