Big problem with power window wiring?????
Big problem with power window wiring?????
OK, to start off i installed a new power window motor today on the drivers side, when i was all done and putting back on the panel, i noticed that the white housing that connects to the power window switches was broke on top. The only one that wouldnt fit in the white thing was the black wire (ground?) anyway i touched the black wire to the prong and i rolled the window up and all of a sudden i smell that burnt fuse smell. Now the window wouldnt even work. I checked the window fuse, that was fine, and yes i know its fine cuz i tested it with a amp tester, and i also noticed that my cd player waSnt working either, tested all the other wires with the amp or "power tester" and they all werent reading back any power but the black wire, so here i am stumped and dont know what to do, alls i want to know is how do i know what is causing this?? and why would it blow my cd fuse? Should i try to buy a new white thing that plugs into the switches??? or buy a new set of wires??? if it is the wires does anyone know the part # for it?? any help would be appreciated thanks! o and by the way the power locks still work on the panel.
Re: Big problem with power window wiring?????
Fuses are somewhat sealed. They usually dont smell when they pop. My guess is that you melted a power-feed wire or a fusible link somewhere.
You're going to have to follow the power wires all the way back to find the problem. Having a wiring diagram would be most helpful, too.
