Exclamation May have cross-threaded header bolt hole...

Putting my headers in today, on the last bolt I noticed it was going in a little cocked with slight resistance. I removed the bolt, checked it, looked good. I even applied antiseize to the bolt, (split locks) before I put it in. Is there a way I can clean the hole without much difficulty?

maybe re-tap it? that might do the trick. if you messed it up bad, drill it out a bit, tap it for a slightly bigger bolt. you can also drill out the hole in the header flange a bit. just an idea. good luck

Start with a "thread chaser" (not a "tap") the same size as the current bolt. Might be able to salvage it without drilling and tapping.

Since I was using split locks, I decided to use my dremel and cut 1/4 of the tip of one of the extra bolts out. Ran it in a few times.....worked like a charm.
