the loud baning from under the car.. that sounds like a hammer. sounds like a transmission mount. ussually what a hammer like pounding on the transtunnel area is. As far as starting.. Perhaps a crappy battery? did you check all of the electrical connections? fuses? Just saying I have run into a few used cars from dealers that have had bad batteries. and they just charge them up every day in the mourning..

Oh wait. you have lights. well still.. I have lights in mine sometimes and it will not start. does the starter even try to kick over? or does it crank and just not start? perhaps a Vats or Passkey system problem? hmm.. Lots of reasons a car will not start these days. But the loud pound ont he bottom is probably a broke transmission mount.

is the "security" light on on the dash?? could be that you didn't have the key in all the way and it tripped the system. it cuts power to the starter for 3 mins or something.

just a thought

What's the voltage level on the battery gauge? If it's just near the redline that might be enough to cause the starter not to turn. (That's what happened to me, enough voltage to power the lights, not enough to turn over)

If the starter does not even kick over I would start checking the connections from the battery to the starter and the ground... after that it could be the ignition itself.. Only so many things it can be when the starter does not even kick over.

Probably just low battery voltage - call the dealer you bought if from before trying anything - shoot, you just bought the car yesterday.
