Long Tube Header Help
Long Tube Header Help
Hello,
I'm looking for a set of long tube headers for my 95 Z28. The only options I can find on Jegs, Summit Racing, etc is Kooks. Is this the only company still producing long tube headers for the gen 4?
I've looked on several forums and read a lot of posts about different long tube options, but they're all super old posts. I saw a lot of different brands recommended, but I can't find them available online anywhere. Just curious on everyone's opinion on the best current long tubes on the market.

Re: Long Tube Header Help
Speed Engineering. Not on the level of Kooks, seem to have some fitment issues.

This outfit shows PaceSetter:

Looked for Hooker Super Competition, appears no longer available. Too bad. I had a set for my Firebird I never installed, sold the car, then sold the Hookers to buyer. He's running 9-second 1/4 miles with them.

Thanks for the reply. The PaceSetters says they fit 96-97 Camaro's. Is there any reason they wouldn't fit a 95? I was under the impression there weren't any changes to the exhaust system from 93-97.
Re: Long Tube Header Help
96 went to dual cats. The driver side cat bolts directly to the triangular flange on the exhaust manifold. Shouldn't affect the long tube headers. As I recall, the Y-pipe connection to the intermediate pipe on 96/97 is shifted to one side, and may require an "S" pipe to connect the 96/97 Y-pipe to the 93-95 intermediate pipe, or modification of the Y-pipe.
If the headers retain the AIR pipe connections, the diameter of the threads is different 94/95 to 96/97. I f you are going to delete the AIR, just a matter of getting the right size plugs.
That's just from my memory, and it would be good if the seller, or another member from here could confirm. Unfortunately, although there are well over 100,000 members here, there's only a few of us (mostly LT1 owners) who are still active. We can go days without a post. Not like it was when I joined 26 year ago.
