ladder bar on a 4th gen??

Has anyone had any success running a "mini" ladder bar setup on 4th gens? im thinking just modify a LCA, use the stock axle mount, and stock frame mount, and add another mount above the axle for the third mount, then run a diagonal link instead of the panhard, and just get rid of the tourque arm..would this work? ive seen the lakewood lift bars, they kind of look like you could use them without a tourque arm...any thoughts?

Re: ladder bar on a 4th gen??

I'm sure it could be done, but the question is, is it worth the time and money?? The current suspension is a three link style and with the right components can be made to hook just as hard as a four link or a ladder bar set-up.

Just my $.02

Why? 4th Gens are running low 8's, 1.2x 60-fts with the TA "stock style" suspension.

because ladder bars are $200, and if it worked, it would be alot cheaper than lca's panhard, tourque arm, relocation brackets...etc... its just a thought, what im really wanting to know is if the ladder bar is shorter, ie. stock lca mounting location, will it still perform well without the torque arm

Re: ladder bar on a 4th gen??

IN short words... no...

For it to work properly it would need to be a 4-link setup, not to get into too much detail, but it would royally screw up the Instant Center loading of the car; basically making it very bad for launching off the line, yet alone handling.

To do it right would require back-halfing the car, and if I were to ever do that it wouldn't be with a ladder-bar, but a 4-link anyways.
