Keyless entry question

My car had keyless entry from the factory, but the guy I got it from lost the remotes. Im wondering if you can use the 97+ remote on my 95z, or if I need to buy the one that it came with. Only reason im asking is cause I can get a newer style remote for free.

If it's free, try it!

If you can get if for free, why not try? Get one and see if it can be programed to the same frequency. If it works, great! If not, no loss.

Don't think it'll work, they're different part numbers:

94-95 15725423
96-02 16245100

The later model remotes will not work.
