Jammed Window Motor

I drive a '96 camaro and have had to change the driver side window motor out many years ago, so the rivits are drilled out and replaced with nuts and bolts. Here lately, when I roll my window all the way down it jams and I can't get it back up. If I take the door apart and pull the motor off of the track gear, the motor runs fine. So, I re-install the motor and the window works fine for a while but then a few days later it happens again. This is the third time this week it has jammed.

Has anyone else had the same problem and know of exactly what is wrong.

Thanx

Richard

i know that sometimes when it is going out it doesn't just slowly crap out on you. it will be running and overheat and stop, it might take a while but then later it will work. i know when mine went out it would just stop working sometimes. i'd hafta manually pull it up about an inch then it would roll up another ocuple inches, then pull on it, then roll it. so it might be going out on your or just binding somehow when it is rolled down. try not rolling it all the way down and see if it still does it.

When you pull the motor out and run it, there's no load on the motor to overheat it. Go ahead and replace the motor. You may want to check the switch as well, sometimes they get gummed up and cause the windows to stop working.

Next time you have the door apart, put a lot of grease on the slides, rollers and gears. You can use the same stuff you use to lube ball joints. But like 97WS6SCharged said, the motor is probably work with no load but with a load, it over heats.

If I stop the window right before it reaches the bottom I don't have a problem. I also noticed that when the window won't roll up and I take the door apart, when the last bolt is loosened up I can see the motor and the gear pop. Like they might have wedged togeter, and when I released the pressure from the motor, they both could move freely.
