Thumbs up Re: Installing power windows doors and keyless

Find a set of doors at a scrap yard. Take everything with it. You never know what you will need. Good luck with the window regulators, they can be a real pain. Try to get the harness and the solenoids too. It can get complecated. You'll have to run through the fuse pannel to protect everything. Try to get the schematics from GM or from a repair manual. Good luck!

Re: Installing power windows doors and keyless

I did the swap on my 88, and if I remember correctly from when I replaced the window motor on my 97 the setup looked similar. On mine I had to drill out the 4 rivits that hold the regulator and motor to the door and just swaped it to the new door, the entire wiring harness for the power windows just unplugged from the fuse box and plugged into the new car. A forthgen may be more complicated as there are switches in both doors, Like was said before take your time removing parts from the doner car and grab everything that even seems related.

Re: Installing power windows doors and keyless

ok, the power windows, and the keyless entry system are controled by the bcm.

i just finished the 97 dash into a 94 car and had all kinda stuff that had to be changed, now if you just want the power windows you should be able to just get the doors and some relays and hard wire everything.

the keyless is gonna be a different story though, i know for a fact that the keyless is controled by the b.c.m. you would have to get a b.c.m. and the b.c.m. harness and ignition key from a 1997-2002 with keyless and power windows and locks for this to work the proper way. it`s a little work but can be easily done with some time and the right tools.

just wondering? why would you want to add all that weight to your car?
is it a z28? i would want the manual doors just for the fact that there like soooo much lighter than full power doors are.

good luck though, keep us posted.

A BCM is only present on a 96 and up. A keyless entry receiver and the wiring/switches for the windows (+ motors, etc.) should be all that is needed for a pre 96.
