Installing o2 sims??

I have a 99 ta with gutted cats, and i noticed it smells like its running rich sometimes. I was wondering if o2 sims would get rid of that problem?? Also how hard is it to install them? Thanks

Re: Installing o2 sims??

The sims simply plug into the harness connectors for the after-cat O2 sensors. But the after-cat O2 sensors don't control the A/F ratio, they are just there to tell the PCM if the cats are working. You should have an SES light for the missing cats. The sims will cure the light, but not the rich condition.

Obviously removing the cats allows larger quantities of unburned hydrocarbons to come out your exhaust pipes.... could that possibly account for what you perceive as a "rich" smell?
